A co-worker from Trader Joe’s gave me 3 teabags of Lapsang Souchong tea. We had been talking about some of the tastes I like (pine, grass, very bitter, burnt – many come from beer). Lapsang is also known as smoke tea. The aroma is like a campfire – smoky, woody, and earthy. The flavor is smoky as well, but also reminiscent of dirt, which actually isn’t a bad thing. I think drinking this iced would be quite good as well – maybe I’ll try that next.

You might try to find a butter oolong, which is a very tasty tea. Or yerba mate… it’s very bitter and sometimes can be a tad smoky as well.
